The Boogie Board Blackboard Reusable Tablet is a fantastic office accessory that no one ever thinks about. It has helped me tremendously in designing and doing quick mock ups for over a month now, so I thought it would be worth sharing my experience with you!
The boogie board blackboard LCD e-writer is a new and innovative way to enhance your office experience. This reusable translucent tablet can be laid over any document to annotation it on the go, making it low maintenance for web designers who prefer not having paper copies around or have limited space at their disposal!
How does this blackboard work?
Before getting into it, let’s see what we get in the box:
- A board
- A stylus
- Four templates
- Blank page
- Dots page
- Rule lined page
- Agenda page
- (A instruction pamphlet, who reads these?)
There are four templates to get you started, and it comes with a non-powered stylus. The boogie board has an eraser and a pointed tip on the other side for those who want more precision in their artwork/caresses! And if you’re going to clear the whole board, you need to press the button placing at the middle of these to opinions. I love how solid (but not too heavy) this thing feels when I use it; it has a good weight to it that makes using it satisfying overall.
The Boogie Board Blackboard is a tablet that doesn’t generate anything on its own and can’t connect to the cloud. When they mention their scan function, it’s pretty cool, but in reality, all this means taking pictures of your device with an app for later use or sharing content.
Here, everything depends on the current. When you push that button, a current helps clear out all of the text on the page. The boogie board uses a liquid crystal display, similar to those you’d see in privacy glass windows.
Why is this product beneficial for UX and web designers?
I’ve used drawing tablets connected to my laptop for years; my complaint is always the same, they’re either super expensive or have a noticeable lag time.
As a designer who has used drawing tablets for years, I can say that the blackboard is perfect. It’s not too expensive and doesn’t have any of those annoying lag times. The results are immediate with no lagging at all – just like real paper!
Pros:
- No lag, smooth & immediate.
- Super cheap compare to drawing tablets.
- Simple, sturdy design & handy
- Low power consumption
- It perfectly reflects initial sketches
Cons:
- Need to push a little harder while erasing anything
Bottom lines:
Boogie Reusable Blackboard is a product made for web designers who need to have an easy-to-clean surface on which they can work.
The blackboard works as both a writing and drawing board, so you don’t have to worry about not finding the right tool when you’re in the middle of your project.
